Ebmer et al. (1994) describe this species and five others from the genus Lasioglossum collected from the Southwest Archipelago, Japan. These are the islands between Taiwan and Kyushu, including Okinawa. In addition to the descriptions, the authors provide multiple photos of each species. Lasioglossum virideglaucum is a metallic green and black bee that is 5 - 7 mm long. Specimens have been collected from the Southwest Archipelago and Honshu, Japan, as well as Yunnan, South China. The authors note that this species is similar to L. problematicum. One female was collected from the plant Rosa multiflora. No information on the nesting or social biology of the species was presented.
