Plants annual, 40-50 cm tall, with few supporting roots; glabrous or sparsely glandular hairy or arachnoid-hairy. Stem erect, simple or virgate-branched from base. Leaves alternate; petiole 1.5-3 cm, with few stipitate glandular hairs at base; leaf blade pale green abaxially, green adaxially, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 5-8.5 × 2.5-3.5 cm, membranous, abaxially glabrous, adaxially adpressed pilose, lateral veins 6-8 pairs, base cuneate or subrounded, margin crenate, teeth mucronulate, apex acuminate. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, racemose, laxly 4-6-flowered; peduncles shorter or longer than petioles, 4-6 cm. Pedicels 1-2 cm, slender, bracteate at base; bracts caducous, green or pink-purple, broadly ovate, 4-6 × 2-3 mm, membranous, apex acute. Flowers yellow, purple-tinged, 1.5-2 cm deep. Lateral sepals 4, membranous; outer 2: oblong or ovate-oblong, ca. 5 mm, inequilateral, apex cuspidate; inner 2: lanceolate, shorter than outer ones, 1-veined, apex acuminate. Lower sepal navicular, ca. 1.5 cm deep, gradually narrowed into an incurved spur; spur 4-5 mm, slender, cornute. Upper petal orbicular, 0.8-1 cm wide, apex retuse, abaxial midvein not thickened; lateral united petals not clawed, ca. 1.5 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes oblong; distal lobes longer, narrow, apex rounded; auricle inflexed. Filaments linear; anthers obtuse. Ovary erect, fusiform. Capsule (immature) linear. Fl. Aug.
