Plants annual, 20-30 cm tall, glabrous. Stem many branched. Leaves alternate; petiole to 2 cm; leaf blade ovate-elliptic, 2-4 × 1-2 cm, with stipitate basal glands, glabrous, lateral veins 5 pairs, base narrowly cuneate, margin coarsely serrate, teeth mucronulate, apex acute. Inflorescences many, (2 or)3- or 4-flowered; peduncles 1.5-2 cm. Pedicels ca. 1 cm, slender, bracteate at base; bracts subulate. Flowers yellow, ca. 1.8 × 1.5 cm. Lateral sepals 2, green, small, ca. 2.5 × 2 mm, base cuneate or slightly cordate. Lower sepal obliquely funnelform, ca. 1 cm deep, base gradually narrowed into a curved, slender spur; mouth vertical, 8(-9) mm wide, tip slightly obtuse. Upper petal ovate-orbicular, small, ca. 5 × 4 mm, abaxial midvein green, cristate; lateral united petals not clawed, ca. 1.8 cm; basal lobes obliquely ovate, small, ca. 4 × 2-3 mm; distal lobes broadly dolabriform, apically retuse; auricle absent or inconspicuous. Filaments long, flattened; anthers small, obtuse. Ovary erect, slender. Capsule fusiform. Seeds few, usually 4 or 5, black, narrowly ovoid, ca. 3 × 1.5 mm, tuberculate. Fl. Aug-Sep.
