Lecudinid gregarines, mucron long, cylindrical, with 14 or 15 petal-shaped lobes at its base; gamont spirally striated, with oblique rows of denticles; syzygy lateral, head-to-tail; gametocysts passed in faeces; in echiruids, one species - L. thalassemae. Genus name has a synonym among the amoeboid protists.
