Sachatamia punctulata (Ruiz-Carranza & Lynch 1995)

Sachatamia punctulata has the following characteristics: 1) vomerine dentition present, 2) bones light green in life, 3) parietal peritoneum on the anterior ½ is white and the posterior ½ is transparent, 3) dorsally green with orange speckling homogenously distributed among the head and body, 5) snout is subovoid when viewed dorsally and truncated when viewed laterally, 6) tarsal and ulnar folds absent, 7) tympanum is large, of which 2/3 are visible due to the upper 1/3 covered by the supratympanic fold, 8) humeral spine absent. Most closely resembles C. flavopunctata and C. midas in color and pattern, but has a more rounded snout and orange spots. Adults are medium sized, males reach 24.5-27.3mm SVL, and females reach 31.6mm SVL. Head slightly wider than body (33.76-36.7% of SVL). Distance from nostril to anterior portion of eye is 61.8-80.6% diameter of eye. Tympanum diameter is 30.3-41.9% diameter of eye, length of tibia is 55.6-63.5% SVL. When the hind limb is adpressed anteriorly, the ankle reaches the tip of the snout. When hind limbs adpressed anteriorly and arms adpressed posteriorly the knees and elbows overlap significantly.

It is known from the border of the Cordillera Central of Colombia in the departments of Antioquia, Caldas, and Tolima between 620 and 930m altitude. Type locality is at the departament of Antioquia, county of Cocorná, vereda and quebrada `La Granja', km 93, highway Medellín, Bogotá, eastern slope of the Cordillera Central of Colombia, 6° 3´ latitude N, 75° 11´ W of Greenwich

Adults were found on ferns and rocks, one of the females contained creame colored eggs of various sizes.

Sachatamia punctulata is a species of frog in the family Centrolenidae. It is endemic to the Cordillera Central, Colombia, in the departments of Antioquia, Caldas, and Tolima. Its natural habitats are tropical humid and sub-Andean forests along streams at elevations of 360–1,100 m (1,180–3,610 ft) above sea level. It is restricted to forest remnants that are surrounded by inhospitable agricultural habitat matrix. As a result, it is threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation.
