They are native to The Contiguous United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, The Neotropics, US Minor Outlying Islands, and Florida. Flowers are visited by Leucochloris, Bluish Flower-piercer, Cinnamon Hummingbird, and hummingbirds. Individuals can grow to 22 m.
