Melanerpes carolinus (Red Bellied Woodpecker) is a species of birds in the family woodpeckers. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to The Nearctic. They visit flowers of Japanese Tree Lilac, Arbor-vitae, sugar maple, and American elm. They are solitary, diurnal omnivores. They have parental care (female provides care, paternal care, and pair provides care). They rely on flight to move around.
