Otus kennicottii. Education Raptor from Hawks Aloft seen at the World Wetlands Day celebrations at Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park. Yes, you can use the on-camera flash with the Sigma 150-500.
This was the tamest owl I have ever seen. Even after I found him with the flash light,he just sat there and let me get extremely close,up to 4 feet away, and he wasn't going anywhere. After I left he proceeded to serenade my camp for the rest of the night until dawn, with an occasional Elf Owl chiming in just for variety, and some Coyotes Howling too a couple times. The nights in the desert are awesome!
