You'd think this big, bright white stalker wouldn't stand a chance, but it moves so quietly and deliberately though the shadows, that when it does strike, it gets a morsel every time. Slipping through the shadows along the shallow bank, this Great Egret didn't pay any attention to us drifting alongside. Yes, egrets in the desert....I was shocked to see them, but there is a lot of water in the desert. Oasis, ponds, golf courses, etc.
