The magpie starling (Speculipastor bicolor) is a member of the starling family from eastern Africa.
The magpie starling is about 16–19 cm (6.5–7.5 in) in length. The white patches at base of primaries are obvious in flight. The male is a shiny blue-black on upperparts, head and upper breast, with mostly white below and bloodred eyes. The female is a dull blackish above with dark grey crown, and a dark grey throat is separated from white belly by a glossy black breast band. Her eyes are red or orange-red. The Juvenile is brown with a white belly; eyes brown, becoming orange-red in as the bird matures. Exceptional young birds are entirely white below, including chin and throat.
The call is a prolonged soft babbling quereeeh quaaa kereek quak-quak, suaaaa, cherak-chik-chak...mixed higher harsh notes.
It is a gregarious nomadic pied starling of dry brush and thorn-scrub in northern and eastern Kenya. It is also found in Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.[1]

El estornino urraca mide entre 16–19 cm de largo.[3] El macho tiene el plumaje de las partes superiores, toda la cabeza, la garganta y la parte superior del pecho de color negro con brillos azules, mientras que el resto de partes inferiores son blancas, aunque presenta una banda blanca en las primarias que se ven solo en vuelo. Sus ojos son de color rojo intenso. La hembra tiene las partes superiores negruzcas, con el píleo y la garganta de color gris oscuro, y una banda negra brillante separa esta última del blanco de la parte inferior. Sus ojos son rojos o rojos anaranjados. Los juveniles son pardos con el vientre blanco, y sus ojos con castaños, y no se vuelven rojos hasta que maduran. Excepcionalmente algunas aves jóvenes tienen el plumaje de todas las partes inferiores blanco, incluida la garganta.
Los estorninos urraca son pájaros gregarios y de costumbres nómadas que viven el las zonas de matorral seco de Etiopía, Somalia, Uganda y el norte y este de Kenia, el extremo meridional de Sudán del Sur, el septentrional de Tanzania.[1]
