Greenish grey with 4, faint broad saddles on back, blackish midlateral stripe, 5-7 short bars on ventral half of body (above anal fin), blackish bar at caudal-fin base, and oblique blackish bands on anal fin. Head, chest, and pectoral-fin base scaleless; short, simple orbital tentacle; mandibular pores 2-3 + 1-2 + 2-3. Maximum size to 3.8 cm TL (Ref. 90102).

Biology

Adults inhabit rock and coral reefs (Ref. 90102). They are found in very shallow water on coralline ground (Ref 13227). Eggs are hemispherical and covered with numerous sticky threads that anchor them in the algae on the nesting sites (Ref. 240). Larvae are planktonic which occur primarily in shallow, nearshore waters (Ref. 94114).
