They are native to US Minor Outlying Islands, The Contiguous United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii. Flowers are visited by Loxigilla portoricensis, Pearly-eyed Thrasher, Antillean Euphonia, and Puerto Rican Tanager. Individuals can grow to 11 m.
