Avicennia germinans (Black Mangrove) is a species of shrub in the family Acanthaceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Atlantic And Gulf Coastal Plain (Agcp), The Contiguous United States, SãO Paulo, Eastern North America, Pará, Ceará, Amapá, Florida, Middle America, Bahia, Amazônia, Mata Atlântica, Rio De Janeiro, Paraná, Maranhao, Pernambuco, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Espirito Santo. They have simple, broad leaves and white flowers. Flowers are visited by Polistes bellicosus, Brazilian Skipper, Crematogaster ashmeadi, and Soldier. Black Mangrove form mangrove swamps. Individuals can grow to 50 feet.
