Amastus episcotosia Dognin
Amastus episcotosia Dognin, 1901b, p. 69.
Forewing 51.0 mm. Palps black. Front of head red, with large lateral patch on each side almost touching at midline just anterior to antennae; vertex black anteriorly, red posteriorly. Anterior transverse band of tegulae black, second yellowish white, third black, fourth (posterior) band red. Patagia yellowish white medially, followed by black, red, black and white longitudinal bands; rest of thorax dark reddish brown, with some pastel red laterally. Forewing dark brown, with light yellow outer marginal and anal fringes. Hindwing light brown, with some orange-red scales basally; translucent in middle. Abdominal segments 1–5 red dorsally, with deep orange laterally and large, black-edged white spot on each side of 4 and 5; segment 6 deep orange with black-edged white, transverse band at posterior margin of segment; segment 7 deep orange with ovate medial patch (elongate longitudinally). Ventral surface of abdomen mostly very dark greyish brown, but segment 2 orange anteriorly, and segment 7 edged with orange posterolaterally.
Described from a single female from Chiriquí [Panama].
