Heteropleris Gayana A. Juss. Ann. Sci. Nat. II. 13: 274. 1840.
Leaf-blades ovate, oblong, or oval, usually 2.5-7 cm. long, obtuse or mucronate at the apex, sparingly pubescent when young, glabrous in age, finely veined beneath, but not very prominently so, obtuse or rounded or sometimes acutish at the base, rather long-petioled ; inflorescence pyramidal during anthesis ; sepals ovate to oblong-ovate, 2-2.5 mm. long, the glands fully one half the length of the sepal-body ; petals not seen ; samaras 3-4 cm. long, the wing finely pubescent, slightly dilated toward the apex, auricled at the base on the ventral side, the body with a double or triple crown.
Type locality : Mexico. Distribution : Mexico.

Leaf-blades broadly ovate to suborbicular, mostly 4-7 cm. long, obtuse or emarginate and apiculate at the apex, puberulent on both sides when young, smooth above, prominently veined beneath, obtuse or rounded at the base, rather short-petioled ; inflorescence leafy-bracted ; sepals ovate, 3.5-4.5 mm. long, the glands fully one half the length of the sepal-body ; larger petals 5.5-6.5 mm. long ; samaras 2.5-3 cm. long, the wing silky, much dilated toward the apex, the body with a single crown.
Type locality : Mexico. Distribution : Mexico.

Leaf-blades ovate to elliptic, mostly 6-11 cm. long, acute or slightly acuminate at the apex, glabrous, at least in age, glaucescent, bright-green above, paler beneath and prominentlv veined, rounded or obtuse at the base, short-petioled ; inflorescence pyramidal ; sepals ovate, 2.5-3 mm. long, the glands about one half the length of the sepal-body ; larger petals 7-8 mm. long ; samaras 3-4 cm. long, the wing finely pubescent, often sparingly so, dilated at the apex, auricled at the base on the ventral side, the body with a single, often unequally developed, crown.
Type locality : Jalisco.
Distribution : Middle Mexico.

Leaf-blades ovate-lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, 4-8 cm. long, acute or slightly acuminate, bright-green above, pale beneath, permanently sparingly pubescent on the veins on both sides, rounded at the base, short-petioled ; inflorescence pyramidal ; sepals ovate, 2-2.5 mm. long, the glands fully one half the length of the sepal-body ; petals not seen ; samaras 2.5-3 cm. long, the wing thin, finely pubescent, broad and somewhat dilated near the apex, auricled at the base on the ventral side, the body crownless.
Type locality : Cerro Colorado, Sinaloa. Distribution : Known only from the t-pe locality.
