Desmothoracid, the cell body is loosely enclosed in a capsule with usually wide perforations through which protrude branched or unbranched axopodia. In two species the lorica is supported by a long hollow stalk. Type species: C. elegans Cienkowski, 1867. Two stalked, and two stalkless freshwater species.
