Alternanthera philoxeroides (Alligator Weed) is a species of shrub in the family Amaranthaceae. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Mato Grosso Do Sul, Pantanal, Amazônia, North America, Bahia, Peru, Bolivia, Rio Grande Do Sul, Brazil, Amapá, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Uruguay, Sergipe, Rio Grande Do Norte, Mata Atlântica, ParaíBa, Pará, Espirito Santo, Venezuela, Santa Catarina, Pampa, Paraguay, Caatinga, Argentina, Alagoas, SãO Paulo, Paraná, Pernambuco, and Cerrado. They have white flowers and capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Common buckeye and Black Swallowtail. Individuals can grow to 0.2 feet.
