They are native to Mata Atlântica, Amazônia, Bahia, Acre (Brazil), Maranhao, Pará, GoiáS, Mato Grosso, Alagoas, Roraima, Tocantins, Puerto Rico, RondôNia, and Amapá. They have bipinnate leaves. They have alternation of generations.
