Plants terrestrial or epilithic. Rhizome shortly creeping or erect. Fronds monomorphic, 2-pinnatifid, basal pinnae not or slightly reduced. Veins free, veins of pinnae lobes not meeting below the sinus. Sori linear, exindusiate.

Stegnogramma is a genus of ferns in the subfamily Thelypteridoideae of the family Thelypteridaceae in the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group classification of 2016 (PPG I).^[2] Other sources sink Stegnogramma into a very broadly defined genus Thelypteris.^[3]
