Proboscia alata is a species of diatoms in the family Rhizosoleniaceae. They are native to Santa Catarina, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Rio De Janeiro, Bahia, Rio Grande Do Norte, Sergipe, Espirito Santo, and SãO Paulo. Dead Proboscia alata form siliceous oozes.
