Platanthera metabifolia F. Maek.

Brief Summary

provided by Ecomare
Perhaps is the Dutch name for this flower more appropriate: sweet-scented night orchid. The odor it emits is indescribably delicious! Particularly in the evening. The moths that drink the nectar and pollinate the flower need long tongues. With its white flowers, delicious smell and two shiny green broad leaves at its base, this plant is not hard to identify. Like all orchids found in the Netherlands, lesser butterfly orchids do not tolerate fertilization.
