Gacek^[4] (Plecotus) – rodzaj ssaka z podrodziny mroczków (Vespertilioninae) w rodzinie mroczkowatych (Vespertilionidae).

Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w Eurazji i Afryce^[5].

Plecotus: gr. πλεκω plekō – owijać, skręcać; ους ous, ωτος ōtos – ucho^[6].
Macrotus: gr. μακρος makros – długi; ους ous, ωτος ōtos – ucho^[7]. Gatunek typowy: Macrotus europseus Leach, 1816 (= Vespertilio auritus Linnaeus, 1758)
