The Scots deuk (Melanitta nigra) is a lairge sea deuk, 43–54 cm in length, which breeds ower the far north o Europe an Asie east tae the Olenyok River. The American/E Siberian M. americana (Black Scoter) is sometimes considered a subspecies o M. nigra.
