In an expedition from 1899-1990 specimens were taken on the shore in Minikoi and Goifurfehendu Atolls, and dredged from 12 fathoms in the Fadifolu Atoll. (Borradaile, p. 251)
This marine crab species has also been found in the Comores, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, the Red Sea, Seychelles, Somalia, and Tanzania. (WoRMS)

Cymo andreossyi is een krabbensoort uit de familie van de Xanthidae.[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1826 door Audouin.
