Pectoral girdle with 4 radials, the lowest half-moon shaped, forming part of posterior margin of basal cartilaginous lamina; teeth not large, simple; chin pores touching each other, anterior skin fold present; subrostral fold absent; gill opening reaching ventrally in front of 4th pectoral ray; ventral end of gill opening and uppermost pectoral ray on horizontal with upper margin of pupil; pectoral with 2 notch rays rudimentary; head less than 20% SL, eye large, 27% HL, snout short, deeply rounded; body deep, about 1.3 HL, slight costal ridge present; head black, peritoneum black (Ref. 42734).
