Diagnostic Description

No coronal pore, 7 preoperculo-mandibular pores. Head large (27% SL), and very compressed (40% HL); gill slit large (1.3 eye diameter), opercular flap long, wing-like, reaching behind midpectoral length and level with pupil. Pectoral fin short (45% HL), with two notch rays.

Psednos andriashevi, Andriashev's dwarf snailfish, is a species of snailfish found in the Northeast Atlantic Ocean just west of Ireland.[1]

Size

This species reaches a length of 5.3 cm (2.1 in).[2]

Etymology

The fish is named in honor of Russian ichthyologist Anatoly Petrovich Andriashev (1910-2009). [3]
