體亞圓筒形,稍側扁,體前部粗圓,向後漸細,尾柄長圓錐狀。眼眶間隔大於吻長。鼻孔小,每側2個,鼻瓣呈卵圓形突起。體腹側下緣有一縱行皮褶。體背自鼻瓣前緣上方至背鰭前方及腹面自鼻瓣前緣下方至肛門前方被小棘。鰓孔內側淡色。背鰭近似鐮刀形,位於體後部,具軟條14-15;臀鰭與其同形且相對,具軟條11-12;無腹鰭;胸鰭寬短,近方形;尾鰭寬大,截形或近圓形。體背部為黃綠色,腹面乳白色;胸鰭上方具一橙黃緣之黑色鞍狀斑;背鰭基部另具黑斑塊。各鰭淺黃色。
