Vernonia gigantea (Giant Ironweed) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Canada and The Contiguous United States. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Silver-spotted Skipper, Lon zabulon, American Bumblebee, and Zethus spinipes. Individuals can grow to 20 dm.
