Orthochromis mosoensis De Vos & Seegers 1998

A mouthbrooding species. The ovaries of a ripening female of 5.36 cm SL contained only 15 eggs.

Often encountered in swift running waters, but occasionally in more quiet rivulets; numerous algae belonging to Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae and Cyanophyceae found in gut; mouthbrooder (Ref. 28906).

Orthochromis mosoensis is a species of cichlid endemic to Burundi where it is only known to occur in the upper Malagarasi River drainage. This species can reach a length of 7.8 centimetres (3.1 in) SL.
