They are native to Puerto Rico, Saint-Pierre Et Miquelon, Canada, North America, Alaska, The Contiguous United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Eastern North America. They have drupes. Flowers are visited by Eastern Carpenter Bee, Camberwell Beauty, Apolysis sigma, and Common Eastern Bumblebee. Individuals can grow to 8.4 m.
