Fivespot Flounder

Body pale brownish, with 2 ocelli above and below lateral line and 1 ocellus on posterior third of straight section of lateral line. Teeth in upper jaw small and close-set. Gill rakers long and slender. Soft ray count of pectoral fin refers to that on ocular side (Ref 9774). Body with many ocelli (Ref. 559).

分布於西太平洋區，包括日本南部、台灣至印尼爪哇海。台灣南部、東北部、北部、西南部及澎湖等沿海均有產。

以手釣、底拖網等漁法終年可捕獲。小型魚以油炸及製作扁魚酥為主。大型魚則可以紅燒或油煎。

體長卵圓形； 兩眼均在左側；兩眼間具狹小骨脊，上眼稍較下眼稍前，上眼前方有凹陷。頭中型。口稍大；上頜延伸至下眼後下方，但未達後部邊緣，由背鰭起點至後鼻孔的直線切過上頜骨中部；上下頜齒小而密，不為大犬齒狀。鰓耙適長、堅硬且具鋸齒，呈櫛狀，第一鰓弓鰓耙數5-7+16-21。鱗中型，背鰭與臀鰭鰭條均被鱗，眼側被櫛鱗，盲側被圓鱗；左右側均具側線，鱗數62-75。背鰭起點在鼻孔前緣上方，軟條數68-76；臀鰭軟條數53-57；胸鰭短於頭長；尾鰭楔形。體淡褐色，體背、腹緣有一列環紋及小暗點，並具有5個大眼斑；盲側灰白色。

主要棲息於大陸棚砂泥質的海域。肉食性魚類，主要捕食底棲性的甲殼類或是其它種類的小魚。
