Body uniformly brownish, 2 ocelli above and below lateral line and 1 ocellus on posterior third of straight section of lateral line. Many indistinct rings scattered on body and median fins. Teeth in upper jaw small and close-set with3 or 4 pairs of canines anteriorly, teeth in lower jaw stronger and more widely spaced than those in upper jaw. Gill rakers pointed and rather short. Pectoral fin on ocular side with 12-13 rays (Ref 9774).

體長卵圓形;
兩眼均在左側;兩眼間具狹小骨脊,上眼稍較下眼稍前,上眼前方有凹陷。頭中型。口稍大;上頜延伸至下眼後下方,但未達後部邊緣,由背鰭起點至後鼻孔的直線切過上頜骨中部;上下頜齒大而疏,為大犬齒狀。鰓耙適長、堅硬且具鋸齒,呈櫛狀,第一鰓弓鰓耙數3-6+9-13。鱗中型,背鰭與臀鰭鰭條均被鱗,眼側被櫛鱗,盲側被圓鱗;左右側均具側線,鱗數74-79。背鰭起點在鼻孔前緣上方,軟條數68-72;臀鰭軟條數52-55;胸鰭短於頭長;尾鰭楔形。體褐色,體有許多環紋及小暗點,並具有5個大眼斑;盲側灰白色。
棲地

It is a demersal fish that lives in tropical waters, inhabiting deep waters on the continental shelf of the western Pacific Ocean, from Taiwan in the north to Australia in the south.
Like the rest of the large-tooth flounders, it has both eyes on the left side of its head. It grows to around 20 centimetres (7.9 in) in length. It is brownish in colour, with five dark rings on its ocular side, as suggested by its common name.
