Cryptacanthodes giganteus és una espècie de peix de la família dels criptacantòdids i de l'ordre dels perciformes.[8]
És un peix marí, demersal (entre 6 i 128 m de fondària)[9] i de clima temperat (60°N-38°N, 175°W- 120°W), el qual viu al Pacífic nord-oriental: els fons tous[9] des del sud-est del mar de Bering[11][12][13][14][15] fins al nord de Califòrnia (els Estats Units), incloent-hi la Colúmbia Britànica[16][17] (el Canadà).[18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][5][10][27]
És inofensiu per als humans[10] i probablement passa part de la seua vida enterrat.[9]

Cryptacanthodes giganteus is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van wrymouten (Cryptacanthodidae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1858 door Kittlitz.
