The grey threadfin sea-bass (Cratinus agassizii) is a species of marine ray finned fish which is a member of the subfamily Serraninae of the family Serranidae, which also includes the groupers and anthias. It is found in the eastern Pacific Ocean off Ecuador and northern Peru and in the Galapagos Islands.[2]

Cratinus agassizii is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van zaag- of zeebaarzen (Serranidae).[2] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1878 door Steindachner.
De soort staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als Gevoelig, beoordelingsjaar 2007.[1]
