描述

體延長而側扁。吻短。眼中大,眼眶後緣無乳突。口較大,稍傾斜。上下頜齒細小,前端具犬齒。下及間鰓蓋骨下緣具鋸齒。體被小櫛鱗;側線完全,側線鱗數44-48;上頜不具鱗;各鰭亦不具鱗。背鰭連續,具硬棘X,軟條15-17(多為16),第IV-X背鰭棘幾乎等長;臀鰭硬棘III枚,軟條7;腹鰭腹位,延伸不及至臀鰭;胸鰭軟條18-20;尾鰭近截形,雄魚上下葉端略為尖突。體背側鱗片中央黃色,週緣為淡藍紫色,腹側為白色;頭部由眼下方至胸鰭基部具一條粉紫藍色至橘紅色斜帶。雄魚於背鰭第VII-X背鰭棘 膜上具一紅斑;雌魚尾鰭具鮮紅色緣。以前所記載之截尾擬花鮨(/Pseudanthias truncatus/)為本種之同種異名。

Pseudanthias hypselosoma

Pseudanthias hypselosoma is a species of marine ray-finned fish, a member of the genus Pseudanthias which is part of the subfamily Anthiinae, which in turn is part of the family Serranidae, the groupers and sea basses. It is an Indo-Pacific species which is found from the Maldives to Samoa, north to the Ryukyu Islands and south to the Great Barrier Reef. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 19 cm in length.[2]
