Diagnostic Description

Four dark longitudinal body stripes; an interruption of the postorbital stripe on heads at the posterior preopercular margin. Scales rows above lateral line to middorsal spines 8; on cheek 7-8. Interspace between nostrils wider than 1.5 the diameter of the posterior nostril. Upper jaw slightly longer than lower jaw; gape almost horizontal; lips fleshy; snout elongate (Ref. 44255).

Mesopristes iravi és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels terapòntids.[3]

Descripció

  • Pot arribar a fer 22,3 cm de llargària màxima.
  • El cos presenta quatre bandes fosques longitudinals.
  • La mandíbula superior és lleugerament més llarga que la mandíbula inferior.
  • Musell allargat.
  • Llavis molsuts.[4][5]

Hàbitat

És un peix d'aigua dolça i salabrosa, pelàgic i de clima tropical.[4]

Distribució geogràfica

Es troba a les illes Ryukyu,[6][7] les illes Filipines, Indonèsia i Papua Nova Guinea.[4][8][9]

Observacions

És inofensiu per als humans.[4]

依氏中鋸鯻（學名：Mesopristes iravi）為鱸形目鱸亞目鯻科的其中一種，分布於亞洲琉球群島、印尼、巴布亞紐幾內亞、菲律賓淡水、半鹹水域，體側具有4條深色縱紋，吻長，唇厚，上頷略長於下頷，體長可達22.3公分，成魚棲息在底中層水域，屬雜食性，成魚會保護卵並搧動魚鰭提供足夠的氧，生活習性不明。[1]
