They are native to US Minor Outlying Islands, Rio Grande Do Sul, Distrito Federal, Pantanal, Rio De Janeiro, Eastern North America, Canada, Caatinga, Western North America, Paraná, Amazônia, Mata Atlântica, GoiáS, Puerto Rico, SãO Paulo, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cerrado, Bahia, Pampa, The Contiguous United States, Minas Gerais, Saint-Pierre Et Miquelon, and Santa Catarina. They have simple, broad leaves, white flowers, and achenes. Flowers are visited by Cheilosia hoodiana, Holcopasites heliopsis, Dialictus, and Systropus macer. Individuals can grow to 5 feet.
