ਬੈਂਗਨ ਇੱਕ ਸਬਜ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ, ਦੱਖਣ-ਪੂਰਬੀ ਏਸ਼ੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਖਣੀ ਅਫਰੀਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਂਗਣ (brinjal) ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।[1][2][3][4] ਜਦਕਿ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ, ਕਨੇਡਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਂਗਣ ਦਾ ਪੌਦਾ (Eggplant) ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਇੰਗਲਿਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਔਬਰਜੀਨ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
